2nd International Solidarity Research Conference (2ISRC)

The 2nd International Solidarity Research Conference (2ISRC) will take place on 5-6 November 2026 at the Babeș-Bolyai University, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The conference focuses on the ‘Limits of Learning and Solidarity’.

According to Mergner’s (1999) theory of social learning boundaries, solidarity ties are shaped, constrained and often limited by the prevailing power relations and dominant moral frameworks within society.

Therefore, when considering the boundaries of solidarity, it is important to speak not only about doing, but also about the social limits of learning solidarity.

At the 2nd International Solidarity Research Conference, researchers from various disciplines will explore and discuss the boundaries of solidarity in relation to the limits of social learning. They will highlight new developments and present empirical evidence relating to current struggles for solidarity within societal areas such as family, work, nation and nature.
