The SRN is committed to strengthening collaborations in research and development in the field of solidarity and social work from an intersectional, global, postcolonial, decolonial, interdisciplinary and formation related perspective.
Current political, ecological, economic, cultural, and social crises and conflicts pose threats to democracy and are undermining established forms and key aspects of solidarity. These crises and conflicts erode fundamental aspects of solidarity such as protection and recognition. Therefore, it is crucial to understand how and what new forms of solidarity are emerging to meet the threats, address the concomitant social problems, and drive change and innovation.
So far research in solidarity remains fragmented into various disciplinary silos and focuses narrow thematic areas, often overlooking the complex global dynamics of contemporary social challenges. Thus, the SRN is committed to strengthening collaborations in research and development in the field of solidarity and social work from an intersectional, global, postcolonial, decolonial, interdisciplinary and learning related perspective to transcend these limitations and harness the full potential of this field.
